Syracuse University’s forum for public diplomacy dialogue

The Program

Your international career begins here!

Syracuse University develops experts in public diplomacy through its Master of Arts in Public Diplomacy and Global Communications Program, offered by the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.  Students learn how to carry out public communications for governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector, and about both the origin and practice of public diplomacy.

Study of public diplomacy has grown out of a need for professionals who can effectively communicate with diverse national and international audiences. Cross-cultural communication presents complex challenges.  In our program, you will learn about the growing field of public diplomacy and the ways in which it is evolving beyond traditional practices. Your courses will encompass the study of governments and NGOs and how they communicate and build relationships in ways that have a positive impact on many public and private sector audiences.

You will gain the skills needed to understand how to build relationships with multicultural audiences. Your coursework will teach you how to develop communications programs that describe an organization, convey its vision, explain its actions and capably and confidently advance its message in times of change or crisis.

We urge you to explore our website and learn more about the field of public diplomacy.   And if you think that there is a place in that world for you, we encourage you to contact us and consider joining us at Syracuse University to begin your own journey into this vibrant, growing and field.
